(Billy) Clark, 64-year-old Jena resident died in Baton Rouge general Hospital last Friday night following five months of hospitalization. Clark became ill while on duty as a pilot of a tow boat on the Mississippi River in early January this year and was admitted to Baton Rouge General, where he remained until his death. He was a member of Nolley Memorial United Methodist Church, masonic Lodge No. 110 F&AM, Scottish Rites Monroe Consistory, a veteran of World War II, where he served with the United States Navy. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 1978, at Nolley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. James Adams, Rev. Byrl Moreland and rev. Jack Crews, officiating. Burial followed in Nolley Memorial Cemetery at the church with arrangements by Kinner and Stevens Inc. of Jena. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Velma R. Clark, about 65 years of age, died suddenly about 3 p.m. Tuesday at his home, one mile east of Jena. Death was caused by heart trouble, it is said. He had been a resident of this section for a number of years. Funeral services were held at Pine Grove Wednesday afternoon, with interment in Pine Grove cemetery. Details of the funeral were not available at press time. The deceased is survived by one sister, Mrs. Miller, of Shreveport and one brother, Mortimer Clark, of Harrisonburg. Date: September 22, 1938 Headline: Funeral Services for John Randolph Clark Held Thursday John Randolph Clark, age 76 years and 19 days, one of LaSalle Parish's oldest and most highly respected citizens, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Price, at Walters, on Wednesday, September 14, at 4:00 a.m. Mr. Clark was a lifelong citizen of this parish, having been born and reared in the blade community. He had been in ill health for a number of years and while his passing was a shock to his family, it was not a surprise. Deceased was a farmer during his active years, being considered outstanding in his chosen occupation. He was united in marriage in 1895 to Mary Ellen Cooper, who with six children survive. The children are: A. D. Clark, Tampa, Florida; Dr. Leon Clark, Hammond; J. W. Clark, Walters; Mrs. Myrtle Price, Walters; Mrs. Gladys Gibson, Hammond and Mrs. W. H. Floyd, Jena. Other survivors are six grandchildren and three stepsons. He was a member of the Baptist denomination. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. B. T. Goodwin, pastor of the Jena Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, with interment in Pine Grove Cemetery. Clark, of Coldwater, was injured fatally when struck by an automobile driven by C. B. Small, Jr., of Many. Small drove his machine into the ditch, where it turned over, in trying to avoid hitting the child. The boy was found under the wheels of the machine badly crushed and injured internally. He died soon afterward at the Natchitoches Hospital.
