Date: March 26, 1931, Thursday Headline: Arthur Coleman Called By Death Sub-Headline: Jena Lad Victim of Pneumonia Thursday of Last Week Arthur Coleman, 8 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Coleman, died at the family home on Thursday, March 19, after an illness of seven days. Death was due to pneumonia. Little Arthur was a bright student in his school work and will be greatly missed by his family and the many play mates who had learned to love him. He was a frequent visitor in the home of his grandfather, Mr. John Pritchard, where he was a favorite. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Coleman, two sisters, Gustava and Grace, and one brother, Lloyd. Funeral services were held Friday, March 20, at Routon with Rev. T. J. Ratcliff, pastor of the Midway and Pleasant Ridge churches presiding. Coleman Dies at Olla; Rites Are Held at Cemetery Benjamin Frank Coleman, 82, of Goodpine, died at the LaSalle Sanitarium in Olla Wednesday morning shortly after 1 o'clock. Funeral services were held this (Thurs.) morning at the Squyres Cemetery near Summerville, with the Rev. E. E. Smith conducting the rites. Surviving the retired logger are two daughters, Mrs. Laura Taylor of Goodpine and Mrs. Polly Cooper of Jena, one son, G. F. Coleman, lifelong resident of Jonesville, who died in New Orleans Sept. 10 shortly before noon at the age of 52, was buried last Thursday afternoon at Heard Cemetery near Manifest, following rites held at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Jonesville at 3 o'clock. The Revs. Harold Davis, J. O. McNair and Larry Walker conducted the funeral services, with interment under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Date: Thursday, April 4, 1935 Mrs. Coleman Dies On March 15, 1935, the death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Coleman and called her away. She was ill twenty days with typhoid fever, and death called her at nine o'clock Friday night, March 15th. Mrs. Coleman, age 19, was born in Good Pine, La. August 25, 1915. She spent most of her life in Mississippi, until five years ago she returned with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. White, to Louisiana. Mrs. Coleman, will be remembered in this section as Miss Louise White of Good Pine. On Sunday, March 17th the body was conveyed to the Belah church by Kinner and Stevens, undertakers of Jena Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock with Rev. Anders, of Jena, officiating. Interment was made in the Belah cemetery. The deceased is survived by her husband and 17 month old son, Wallace Douglas, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. White, and three sisters, Audrey, Bernice, and Peggy Joyce, and grandmother, Mrs. O.W. Date: Thursday, Aug. 8, 1940 MRS. NANCY E. COLEMAN Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy E. Coleman, who died July 13 after a long and serious illness, were held at the Midway Baptist Church Monday July 15 at 11 o'clock with Rev. L.C. Coates and Rev. J.J. Allbritton officiating. Interment was made at Pine Grove cemetery. Pallbearers were: Bill Brasher, Ira Thorla, Albert Newburg, Bobby Higdon, Balanchard Smith and Maloy Steen. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Hixson Bros. Funeral Home. Although her death was not entirely unexpected, it came as a shock to her many friends and relatives in LaSalle and Catahoula parishes. She was 76 years, 23 days on June 20, 1940. She spent her entire life in and around Midway. Her husband preceded her three years. She leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn her passing: Geo. Coleman, Centralia, Ill., Alice Russell, Arp, Texas, Ethel Reames, Monroe, La., Lee Coleman, Good Pine, Cora Sullivan, Good Pine, sons and daughters; I.A. Davis in Olla, were held at the Nolly Memorial Methodist Church in Jena at 2:30 pm Sunday, interment following in the Nolly Memorial Cemetery, with Rev. D. F. Anders, pastor of the church, officiating, assisted by rev. E. M. Daffin, pastor of the Olla Baptist Church. The funeral arrangements were under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. The deceased was born in LaSalle Parish and was beloved by all who knew her. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. H. W. Davis of Olla, with whom she has made her home for several years. She also leaves four grandchildren, Wayne, H. W., Jr.., Elizabeth, and Ruth Davis; one brother, J. N. Coleman, and one sister, Mrs. G. S. Coleman, 77, Called by Death, Buried on Wednesday The news of the untimely death of W. M. Coleman, aged 77 years, 1 month, and 12 days, which occurred on Tuesday morning at 3:14 o'clock at his home in Jena was received by the people of this section with heartfelt sorrow. Mr. Coleman had been a resident of Jena since his birth on January 1, 1858, and a member of one of the pioneer families of this section, religious and social welfare of this section he did much to promote the civic, religious, and social welfare of this entire community. The deceased was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and was actively identified with the growth of this denomination throughout this section. On January 28, 1886, he was married to Miss Ella Myers, who preceded him to the grave on July 10, 1905. Six children survive this union as follows: B. L. Coleman, Monroe, and R. G. Coleman, Minden, sons; Mrs. Jim Russell, Utility, Mrs. George Bennett, Archie, Mrs. B. J. Basham, Jena, and Mrs. Emmanuel Broussit, Monroe, daughters. He is also survived by his second wife who was Miss Hattie Lang, whom he married on July 28, 1915, one brother, J. N. Coleman of Jena, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth King of Harrisonburg, and Mrs. Beckie Davis of Olla. Funeral services were held at the Nolley Memorial Methodist Church in Jena at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning with interment following in the Forsythe Cemetery. Rev. D. F. Anders, his pastor, and Rev.
