Mrs. Crawford resided in Jena from 1968 until 1976 with her husband, Robert L. Crawford, and their three children, Robert Crawford was the first Plant Manager of the Jena Wire and Cable Company. Mrs. Crawford was active in the Nolley Memorial United Methodist Church, a member of the LaSalle Country Club and the LaSalle Art and Historical Association, and the Resource Coordinator for the LaSalle Parish Schools. Her survivors include her husband, Robert L. Date: August 10, 1944 Headline: Aimwell Boy Killed By Lightning Last Sat. Night, Aug. 5 Death struck with sudden swiftness in the Aimwell Community when Jack Crawford, age 12, was struck by a bolt of lightning during the severe electrical storm which raged over this section last Saturday night. Young Crawford was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Seth Crawford of the Aimwell Community. According to reports received by The Times, the Crawford child jumped off the end of a porch to hide from other children while playing. Evidently he was close to the wall of the house when a lightning bolt struck, traveling down a radio aerial wire. The shaft of lightning leaped from the wire and struck the boy about where the neck joins the shoulders, coursing through the body to the ground. The body was severely burned and death was instantaneous. Jack Crawford was born at Aimwell and had lived there all his life. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Burial services were held at Aimwell Sunday, Aug. 6, 1944, at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Lee Brooks of Rhinehart in charge of services. Interment was in Aimwell Cemetery. Surviving the deceased are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Crawford, two sisters, Hazel Dun Prince of Enterprise and Myra Ruth, Aimwell; two brothers, Seth M. Crawford, in the armed forces somewhere in England and Robert Earl, Aimwell. Date: Dec 8, 1932 Headline: Carl Cruse of Olla is Killed in Truck Wreck Saturday Carl Cruse, of Olla and Little Chickasaw community, was instantly killed last Saturday morning at about eleven o'clock when a lumber truck he was driving blew out a front tire and turned over pinning him under the load. The accident happened about one mile south of Kelly on the Monroe-Alexandria highway. One of his brothers who was riding with him escaped with only a few minor bruises by jumping clear of the machine just before it turned over. Mr. Cruse was 23 years of age, single, and lived at home with his parents, and five brothers. He was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Millard Cruse and also the oldest of fifteen grandchildren and the only one to be called by the angel of Death. F. Curtis Held At Belah Cemetery Funeral services were held May 12, 1945 at 4 p.m., for Mrs. Willa Curtis, 42, at the Belah Cemetery with O. G. Cannon officiating. Mrs. Curtis, a lifelong resident of the Belah community, died May 11 at 5:30 p.m. at her home. Cancer was given as the cause of death. She was a member of thhe Baptist Church at Belah. Survivors include her husband, Mr. B. F. Curtis; one daughter; Wilma Fay, of Belah; three sons, R. B., Belah; Oscar, of the U. S. Army, somewhere in Gemany; and J. W., serving in the South Pacific; six sisters: Mrs. Eunice Burnum, Mrs. Lena Jones, and Mrs. Myrtle Taylor, of Jena; Mrs. J. R. Heard, Shreveport; Mrs. J. T. Breland, Monroe; and Mrs. Jewel Burnum, Mobile, Ala.; three brothers: J. A. Knapp, Belah; L. T. Knapp, Tullos; and R. T. Knapp, Shreveport.
