He was a retired cattleman. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Eden Methodist Church with Rev. Ross Allen, officiating. Burial followed at Dayton Cemetery of near Trout under arrangements by Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lois Dayton of Trout; one daughter, Mrs. Lois Little of Rhinehart; one son, Charlie Dayton of Trout; four grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Vincent Whatley, Marion Greer, Jim Greer, Hig Hailey, Jack Cockerham and Jeff Greer.
