"Lum" Davis, 54, of Trout injured in an automobile accident last week died today at approximately 4 p.m. in an Alexandria hospital. Davis was hit by an automobile when the driver, "Sonny" Gammill of Tullos, lost control of the car in an attempt to avoid a cow. Gammill applied his brakes suddenly as the cow jumped into his path. Mr. Davis was born in a town of Missouri on December 25, 1856, making him approximately 74 years of age. The body is being sent home and is to arrive in Alexandria at 2:30 a.m. Friday. Davis was in charge of a sawmill operated by T.A. McDougald of Jena, who is engaged in the lumber industry near Chama. Funeral arrangements were yet incomplete last night. Interment however, will be under the direction of the Hixson Bros. Funeral Home here. Mex., Monday, Aug. 27, were held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Searcy Baptist church. The Rev. O.G. Cannon, pastor of the Searcy Baptist church, officiated in the services. HE was assisted by the Rev. He was associated with the LaSalle lumber industry for many years. At the time of his death he was employed by T.A. McDougald, local lumberman, as a sawmill operator in Chama. Death, which as due to a paralytic stroke, occurred at 9 p.m. Mrs. Davis was born at Caceyville, Miss., in 1854. In 1879, she was married to Daniel Webster Davis. She was a member of the Wallace Ridge Baptist Church, and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. J. Ratcliff, pastor of this church. Funeral services and interment were at Harrisonburg. Surviving are Mr. Davis and six children as follows: Bruce Davis, Luther G.
