Ezell, 98, of Jena, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 17, at his home in Jena. He was a retired clerk and member of the Methodist Church. "Mr. Willie" as he was so fondly known, was very active until just a few months ago. He made regular visits to uptown Jena daily until his health prevented the daily visits. At 94, he was a very active participant in the last Jena Howdy Neighbor Day staying the entire day enjoying the activities and taking part in the square dancing. Funeral services were held at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Eldred Blakely, officiating. Interment followed in the Jena Cemetery of Jena with arrangements by Kinner and Stevens, Inc., of Jena. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Kemp of Pineville; one son, Roy Ezell of Ruston, one sister, Miss Rowena Ezell of Jena; two grandchildren, Mrs. Pat Cross of San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. Hilma Nelson of San Francisco, California. Pallbearers were Ray Wood, Bobby Brown, Jimmie Humphries, Cuz Sandifer, Bill Brunson and Don Chapman. Honorary pallbearers were Shep Polland and Bernard Polland.
