He was a member of the Selma Baptist Church of Georgetown and was retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Services were held Friday, September 5, 1997 at the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia with Revs. Doyle L. Aaron, James Simon and Annie Mae Farmer officiating. Burial followed in the Lincecum Cemetery of Georgetown under direction of Riser and Son, Columbia. Survivors include his wife, Velma Farmer of Pioneer; three sons, Clyde J. Farmer, Jr., of Georgetown, James Allen Farmer of Trout and Alvin Leon Farmer of Olla; four daughters, Alice Jones and Margaret Coleman, both of Urania, Dot Glidewell of Olla and Ruth Dotson of Jena; one brother Arthur Farmer of Delhi; four sisters Bessie Higgins and Myrtie Belle Toney, both of Holly Ridge, Jewel Smith of Thibodeaux and Eula Pettit of Oak Grove; 12 grand- children and eight great-grandchildren.
