He was a retired construction and heavy equipment operator and had lived in and around LaSalle Parishes most of his life. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Alban Poole and Craig Franklin, officiating. Survivors include one son, Tommy Michael Franklin of Many; three daughters, Bonnie Sue Carter of Monroe; Sonja McCarty of Meridian, Miss. and Tanja Taylor of Olla; two sisters, Euna Mae Phillips of Columbia Heights and Katherine Ellerbe of Grayson; four brothers, Wavle B. Franklin of Columbia, William H. Franklin and Sammy J. Franklin, both of Jena and George M. Franklin of Wagner, Okla.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
