He was a retired diesel mechanic for Justiss Oil Company, a member of the Michael Dempsey Lodge No. 327 and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force with 23 years service. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Truman Leach, officiating. Burial followed at Belah Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena. Survivors include a son, Wesley Dewayne Ford of Jena; six daughters, Patsy Helms of Pineville, Billie Ainsworth of Alexandria, Cindy Brantly of Dangerfield, Texas, Karen Sullivan of Pineville, Debra Boyd of Deville and Madeline Ford of Jena; a step-daughter, D'Juan Ainsworth of Jena; a sister, Shirley Ann Ford of Baton Rouge and 11 grandchildren. Pallbearers were the masons of Michael Dempsey Lodge No. 327 of Jena.
