Franklin, 75, of Olla, died Friday, May 9, 1991, at the veterans Administration Medical Center in Alexandria. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired forest crew leader with the Department of Agriculture and Office of Forestry having worked there 26 years. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at Standard Baptist Church near Olla with Rev. Scott McDowell officiating. Burial followed in Chickasaw Cemetery east of Olla under direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Survivors include his wife, Doris Hamilton Franklin of Olla; two sons, Billy Franklin and Quincy Franklin, both of Olla; four daughters, Ruby Lowery, Ellen Smith and Linda Mapp, all of Olla and Juanita Ruddell of Hammond, Indiana; two brothers, Otis Creel of Jonesville and Earl Franklin of Monroe; a sister, Alma Creel of Simmsport; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
