Floyd, 82, of Tyler, Texas, were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 1988, in Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home Chapel of Tyler with Rev. L. H. Hubbard officiating. Floyd was a graduate of Jena High School Class of 1925 and is preceded in death by his father, Ben Floyd and mother, Lula Doughty Floyd, pioneer family members of LaSalle Parish. He was born April 3, 1906 in Tullos. Floyd died early Wednesday, October 26, at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was a Baptist and former owner of B. C. Floyd Co. in Tyler. He was a graduate of Tyler Commercial College and was a self-employed insurance agent and real estate appraiser, a VA appraiser, and a senior appraiser in the State of Texas. He served in the U. S. Navy, working in the post office department for four years. He served in San Diego, San Francisco, and Honolulu. He was discharged in 1945. He was a member of Odd-Fellows Lodge for 50 years, member of VFW and American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Floyd of Tyler; two sons, Mike Floyd and Mark Floyd, both of Tyler; three brothers, Leroy Floyd of Tyler, Clifford Floyd of Port Neches and D. R. Floyd of Haynesville; a sister, Edith Lollar of New Orleans; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bobby Henry Jr., Howard Reed, Mike Stephens, James Howell, Jerry Mizener and Kenneth Eubanks. Honorary pallbearers were W. D. Norsworthy officiating. Burial was to be in Woodland Cemetery in Jena under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Jena. Mrs. Floyd died Wednesday in LaSalle General Hospital in Jena after a long illness.
