He was an insurance salesman and a veteran of World War II. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Jena with Revs. Gary Norris and P. A. Paul officiating. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery near Jena under arrangements by Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena. Date: October 19, 2005; Page 10A Headline: Thomas Francis Thomas Leroy Francis, 90, of Kemah, Texas, and a native of Jena, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005, in League City, Texas. He was born in Jena on October 6, 1914, to the union of his parents, Martin and Ella Francis. Tom was a veteran of World War II and was retired from Marathon Oil Company in Texas City. He had resided in Kenah, Texas, for 56 years. A celebration of life was held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, October 8, at the Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas. Interment followed in the Forest Park East Funeral Home Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51, years, Ruth; his parents, and his sisters, Myrla Kilpatrick and Louise Taylor. Survivors include his two sons, Thomas M. She was a ticket clerk for the Town of Urania and had previously worked as a dispatcher with the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's Office. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Urania. She was preceded in death by her husband: Huey P. Franklin, her daughter: Patricia Ray Atwell and her granddaughter: Michelle Atwell. He was owner and operator of Quincy's Small Engine Repair in Olla and worked as a heavy equipment operator from McCartney Oil Co in the past. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. He was retired from the State of Louisiana, Department of Corrections as a probation officer. He owned and operated Pic- A-Pak Convienance Store. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Olla and served in the Air Force Reserves. Survivors include his wife: Sharon Garner Fryar of Olla, his son: Johnny Fryar of Tullos, his daughter: Susan Fryar Allbritton of Tullos, and his grandchildren: Jonpatrick Fryar, Brandon Fryar and Ashtin Allbritton.
