He was a firefighter with the Louisiana Forestry Commission and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was born October 29, 1938 at Rayville to the union of John and Lessie Ates Goodwin. He was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church of Winnfield. Services were held Friday, August 22, at the Calvary Baptist Church west of Tullos with Rev. Doug Allen officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery under direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Olla. Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Goodwin of Tullos; his mother Lessie Goodwin of Grayson; two sons, Rocky Goodwin of Pollock and Joey Goodwin of Sikes; two daughters, Susie Autrey of Winnfield and Sandra Spruell of Georgetown; two step-sons, Christopher Allbritton of Stuttgart, Germany and Scottey Allbritton of Tullos; one brother, Curtis Goodwin of Centerville; two sisters, Geneva Lancon of Grayson and Patsy Black of Olla; and eight grandchildren (the Jena Times, September 10, 1997)
