All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Tom Gilbert Jr., is Called by Death at Wisner Thursday Thomas Benjamin Gilbert, 43, a prominent Franklin parish citizen and well known through this section of the state, was found dead at his home in Wisner Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Death was caused by acute dilation of the heart, according to a report by Dr. R.E. Kin, Franklin parish coroner. A maid found Mr. Gilbert dead when she went to call him after his daily afternoon rest. Mr. Gilbert had lunch at 11:30 a.m. and then lay down for a brief rest as was his habit each day. The maid had been instructed to call him at 1 o'clock. Mr. Gilbert was the oldest son of the late Senator T.B. Gilbert, Sr. who died in 1931. He was born and reared in Franklin parish and had lived there continuously with the exception of several years in college and some two years in service with the American army in France during the World War.
