He was employed in the timber industry and a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, at Zion Baptist Church of Georgetown with the Revs. James Griffin and Danny Griffin officiating. Burial followed at Zion Cemetery near Georgetown under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Griffin of Morgan City; a son, George Wesley Griffin of Morgan City; four daughters, Bobbie Smith, Cynthia Ashmore, and Susie Nelson, all of Morgan City and Paula Kyle of Berwick; a sister, Evelyn Joy of Jena; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
