Services for Edith Yvonne Holmes, age 80, of Olla will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, 
November 11, 2007, from the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Olla with 
Bro. Milton Wilson and Bro. Paul Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in 
the Olla Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.  Mrs. 
Holmes was born in Olla on August 6, 1927 to the union of Luther Charles and 
Angelyn Parson [sic Parton] McBroom and died Friday, November 9, 2007 at 
Hardtner Medical Center.  She was a homemaker and a longtime member of First 
Baptist Church of Olla serving many years as the secretary of the Sunday 
school classes.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 
Lawrence Edwin Holmes, Sr.; her grandson, Charles Edwin Holmes.  Survivors 
include her sons: Lawrence Edwin Holmes, Jr., of New Iberia, James Daniel 
Holmes and wife Amanda of Collinston; her four daughters, Linda Weaver and 
Nancy Holmes both of Urania, Mary Thomas and husband Buddy, Wanda Coleman and 
husband Lowell both of Coushatta; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great 
grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six step - greatgrand children; special 
friends Charles Callender, and Kenneth Strain.  Pallbearers will be Ken 
Volentine, Michael Volentine, Jeffrey Coleman, Jason Coleman, Christian 
Holmes, Matthew Bailey, Corey Bailey, and Michael Gonzales.  Honorary 
pallbearers will be Dusty Bailey, Byron Guichet, Charles Guichet, Jonah Ernst, 
Trevor Herrick, Joshua Herrick, Nicholas Holmes, Chandler Volentine, Andrew 
Volentine.  Visitation will be Sunday 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Olla 
until time of service.
