All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** HUFFMAN, Ben Funeral services were held at Tidwell cemetery Monday afternoon at four o'clock for Ben Huffman, aged 47 years, 5 months and 5 days. Rev. John Henry Smith pastor of the First Baptist Church in Jena conducted the funeral services while the arrangements were in the charge of the LaSalle Burial Association. Mr. Huffman died in the Baptist hospital at Alexandria Saturday night from pistol wounds said to have been inflicted by ___ __________, who is in jail at Jena awaiting the action of the grand jury. The trouble between the two, which began several weeks ago, was climaxed late Friday afternoon when the two became engaged in an altercation at their homes in the Nebo community, __________ is alleged to have shot at Huffman six times, five of the shots taking effect. Mr. Huffman had been a resident of the Lake section for several years and was one of the best known in that section of the parish. The actual trouble between the two man has not been revealed. Surviving Mr. Huffman are the following children, besides his wife; Walter, Hays Minice, Fred, Mildred, Warren, Anthony and Eloise; the following step- children, Shelby, Farell and Pearl, his mother, Mrs. Robertson, of Manifest and one sister, Sue Bailey, also of Manifest.
