He was a native of LaSalle Parish. Funeral services were held last Sunday in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Dennie Loddatto and Rev. Donald Lemons officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery under direction of John Kramer and Son Funeral Home. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Edna Edwards Humphries of Pollock; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Humphries of Pollock; two sons, James E. Humphries of Pollock and John B. Humphries, Jr. of Denver, Colo.; five brothers, Tommy Humphries of Leesburg, Fla., Bobby Humphries of Las Vegas, Nev., Shade Humphries of Port Arthur, Texas, Lewis Humphries of Jena, J.J. Humphries of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Flukinger of Houston and Mrs. Ola Payne of Fort Smith, Ark., and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Stanley Hinds, Jerry Edwards, D.E. Morrow, Jan Tolar, Monroe Silver and George Hinds. (The Jena Times, Thursday, March 14, 1974)
