"Peanut" Hortman, 41, of Tullos, died at 5:38 a.m., Tuesday September 15, 1998, at the LSU Medical Burn Center in Shreveport from injuries suffered in an oilfied accident earlier this month. He was a welder in the oilfield industry and a member of the First Baptist Church in Tullos. He was born September 9, 1957 at Wimpole Park, U.S. Air Force, England, to the union of Grady B. and Gloria Jo Holmes Hortman. Services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 17, at the First Baptist Church in Tullos with Rev. James Brown officiating. Interment followed in the Pinehill Cemetery of Urania under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Ann Hortman of Tullos; one daughter, Jamye Suzone Riser of Stonewall; one son, Derek Jay Riser of Stonewall; his father, Grady B. Hortman of Many; three sisters, Julia Harrell of Natchitoches, JoAnn Frank of Hernando, Ms. and Janice Grunewald of Zachary. Pallbearers were Shelby Loe, Jr., Clifton Perot, James Arbogast, Angelo Banandi, George Tidwell and Rod Douglas.
