Huffman, 48-year-old Ferriday man, and native of LaSalle Parish was killed in an airplane crash early Monday morning near the Concordia Parish Airpost at Ferriday. Huffman's body was found near the wreckage of his Cessna Skylane in a soybean field by farm workers early Monday morning. He was apparently killed instantly when the plane crashed. Authorities believe Huffman, a student pilot who had been flying about two years, was attempting to land at the Concordia Parish Airport enroute home from Jena. A native of LaSalle Parish, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carter Huffman of Walters, Huffman had been a resident of the Ferriday area since 1961. He was owner and operator of a used car business. Sheriff Johnny Patrick of Concordia said the Federal Aviation Administration in Shreveport was notified of the crash and would make an investigation into the cause of the accident. Funeral for Huffman was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena with Rev. Mac Walker, Rev. Larry Walker and S. B. Spinks officiating. Burial followed in the Chalk Hill Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena. Survivors in addition to his parents include one son, Rickey Huffman of Jena; three brothers, Donnie Ray Huffman of Walters, Auley Huffman of Millersville, Mo. And W. L. Huffman of Chopin; two sisters, Mrs. Zelpha Miller of Carthrage, Texas and Mrs. Nita Boddie of DeVille; and two grandchildren.
