Trout teen killed in crash near Jena A 19-year-old Trout woman was the victim of a one-vehicle traffic accident near Jena last Friday night, according to State Police. She becomes the first traffic fatality in the parish for 1999. Trisha Harper, 19, of Trout, died at 1:53 a.m., Saturday morning in Rapides Regional Medical Center from injuries she suffered in the accident which occurred around 8:35 p.m. Friday night. The wreck occurred when Kristopher Y. Coleman, 21, of Jonesville, lost control of his Ford pickup truck while traveling east on La. 772 (Hatchery Road) about 2.7 miles east of Jena. State Police said he apparently ran off the right side of the road in a curve. In an attempt to get back on the road, he overcorrected, causing the truck to cross the road and strike a tree, troopers said. Coleman was thrown from the truck as it went into a spin which cause the truck to hit another tree. Coleman was taken to LaSalle General Hospital with critical injuries, including a broken neck. He was later transferred to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. The victim was also taken to LaSalle General Hospital in critical condition and later transferred to Rapides Regional Medical Center where she died about five hours later. (There are three more paragraphs mentioning other passengers and details that I have elected not to list.)
