Hailey, 58, of Nebo Route, Jena, were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Nebo Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Ratcliff, pastor of the Nebo Baptist Church and the Rev. J. L. Williams officiating. Interment was in Belah cemetery under the direction of Hixson Bros. Funeral Home of Jena. Hailey died of a self-inflicted wound at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. He died instantly after he had placed the muzzle of a 12 gauge pump shotgun to his mouth and fired the weapon. His death occurred in the yard of his home on Nebo Route. He was at home alone at the time. Although he was born in Catahoula parish he was practically a life-long resident of Nebo Route. He was a farmer by occupation. At the time of his death he shared interest in two LaSalle Parish oil wells, it is reported. Survivors of the deceased include his widow; Mrs. Agnes L. Hailey; his mother, Mrs. Melinda W. Hailey; two brothers, Davis B. and Lee Hailey; and one sister Mrs. Mattie Whatley, all of Nebo Route, Jena. Pallbearers at the funeral were Fred Allen, David Deville, Turner Sanders, Junior Hailey, Lee Whatley, and Leon Huffman.
