He was born in Kansas City, missouri, October 14, 1935. His mother Onesia Athen (Doughty) Manchester, resides in Jena as did his father, Orvis Alvis Hester, who died September 25, 1973. Colonel graduated from Jena high School in 1953 and from the California Polytechnical at Pomona. He served as a survival instructor at Stead Air Force Base, Reno, Nevada in the late 1950s. His career included social work and education, some of which was served in LaSalle Parish. He was Baptist. Colonel is remembered for his leadership in school government and acting ability while attending school in Jena. He went on to play numerous parts with the Reno Little Theatre in Reno, Nevada. Most currently he collected antiques and traveled. Ceremonies were held in Medford, Oregon and interment in the Medford, Orgeon, Eagle Point national Military Cemetery on August 1, officiated by Rev. Rick Burns. He and Donna Marie Holstein hester have two daughters, Camilla Brynne Hester- Alvaro, Walnut Creek, California; Jennifer Onesia Whiteley of Pacifica, California; and three sons, Dirk Garold Alvis Hester of Ventura, California; Eric Alaris Alvis Hester of Los Angeles, California and Derek Aelric Alvis Hester of Arcata, California; two brothers, Tyson Lee Hester of Willis, Texas and Bryant Kimberly Hester of Jena and a sister Cordialea Onesia Athena of Carson City, Nevada; and four grandchildren.
