"JD" Hardy, 82 of Aimwell, died Tuesday afternoon, March 27, 2007 at the LaSalle General Hospital from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident earlier in the day. He was born April 7, 1924 at Aimwell, was a cattleman, a logger, and a horse trader. He was a member of the New Life Pentecopstal Church of Manifest. Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 30, at the New Life Pentecostal Church of Manifest with the Reverends David Poole and Norris Poole officiating. Interment followed in the Andrews Cemetery under direction of Young's Funeral Home of Jonesville. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Crawley Hardy; son, Tommy Smith; parents, John and Mary Ashley Hardy; three brothers, Robert Hardy, J. R. Hardy, and Milton Posey; and five sisters, Sue Zeagler, Bernice Ashley, Sudie Bradley, Bea Molina, and Anice Hardy. Survivors include his wife, Rubye Hardy of Aimwell; seven sons, R. L. Hardy and wife Pam of Dry Prong, James Hardy and wife Linda of Jena; George Hardy and his wife Iris of Jonesville; David Branch of Monticello, Ms.; Gene Branch and wife Debra of Brandon Ms.; Jimmy Smith and wife Mimi of Brookhaven, Ms.; and John Hardy of Harrisonburg; five daughters, Valorie Hardy Fogleman of Pineville; Dianne Smith Warwick of Pelahitchie, Ms.; Sue Cotton and husband Derwood of Harrisonburg; Shaunda Minton and husband Robert of Harrisonburg; one brother, Kenneth Posey of Jena; sister-in-law, Opal Brooks; nephew, Rodney Irby; niece, Tam Hudnall; 29 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Barry Rainey, Perry Aplin, Ronnie Posey, Russell Posey, Chuck Posey, and Mark Posey. Honorary pallbearers were Harvey King, Sam Mason, K. W. He was a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Ernest Maynard and Craig James officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery of Rhinehart under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc., of Jena.
