Hudson Held June 7 Funeral services for George W. Hudson, 77, farmer of Little Creek, who died June 6 at 2:30 a.m. were held at the residence June 7 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Pearson of Trout officiating. Interment was made at Strange cemetery under the direction of Upshaw Funeral Home of Jena. Deceased was a pioneer citizen of Little Creek and a member of the Baptist church. He was a member of First Tee of Louisiana and loved to play golf. He was a fifth grader at Ball Elementary and loved to tell jokes. Services were held at 2 p.m., April 22, in the chapel of Rush Funeral Home of Pineville with Reverends Willie Cripps, Ted Bostick, and Cliff Spikes officiating. Interment followed at the Malone Cemetery of Ball under the direction of Rush Funeral Home of Pineville. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jake and Melba Smith of Jena. Survivors include his parents, George and Jana Smith Hughes of Ball; one brother, Jantzen Hughes of Ball; paternal grandparents, Ben and Stella Hughes of Ball; and a great aunt, Elsie Johnson of Jena. Date: October 26, 1944, Thursday Headline: Thomas H. Hughes Dies Suddenly of Heart Attack Thomas Henry Hughes, age 63, employed by McDougald's Meat Market in Jena, died suddenly about 7:45 p. m., Wednesday, Oct. 25. According to reports reaching the Times office, Mr. Hughes died suddenly just after returning home from the drug store where he had been to get something for "a pain in his chest." Funeral services for the deceased is incomplete, according to Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, where the services are held, pending arrival of relatives. Survivors of the deceased are his wife, Mrs. Lula Hughes, El Dorado, Ark.; three sons: Vernie, of (?city), Ark., Leon of El Dorado, and pvt. Stanley Hughes in the Army, now stationed in Florida; one daughter, Mrs. T. M. She was a homemaker. Services were held at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 26, at the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Randy Ray and Craig James officiating. Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery near Jena under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. Survivors include one daughter, Francille Crooks of Mesquite, Texas; two sons, Chester Hutchins, Jr., of Columbus, Ms., and Johnny Hutchins of Jena; two sisters, Lilliam Smith of Jena and Odie Branson of Bentley; one brother, Gary Foster of Tioga; seven grandchildren, nie great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
