Martha A. Ireland, 51, of Searcy, died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 15,
1998, at the LaSalle General Hospital of Jena.

She was a nurse's aide and was employed at the LaSalle Parish Health Unit in
Jena.

She was born January 11, 1947, in Olla, to the union of Cisroe and Irene
Purkell Smith.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17, in the chapel of Kinner and
Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Eddie Thompson and Packy Thompson
officiating.

Interment followed in the Eden Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens,
Inc., of Jena.

Survivors include three daughters, Donna Lynn Lindsey, Tricia Cickey and Paula
Kaye Aycock, all of Olla; four sons, Thomas Lee Ireland of Lafayette, Warren
Dale Ireland, Don Delaine Ireland and Randy L. Neal, all of Jena; one sister,
Mary Smith Coleman of Olla; one brother, Jim Smith of Olla; and 13
grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Thomas Ireland, Warren Dale Ireland, Don Ireland, Tracy
Norman, Jackie Dickey, and Jeffery Aycock.

Honorary pallbearers were Dustin Dickey, Austin Ireland, Thomas Ireland, Jr.,
Jeffery Aycock, Jr., Slade Aycock and John Ward Lindsey.
