He was a native of Winnsboro and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church and retired from Hunt Petroleum and Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society. He was a member of the Olla Kiwanis Club and was a coordinator of Lay Witness Missions. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church in Olla with Rev. Everett Geis, officiating. Burial followed in the Olla Cemetery under direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Survivors include his wife, Laverne Ingram of Olla; one son, Jerry Ingram of Tioga; one daughter, Pami Carter of Alexandria; one brother, Bill Ingram of West Monroe; one sister, Joyce Wiggins of Winnsboro; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ray Duke, M.L. Barksdale, Lee Breithaupt, Glen Henderson, Tommy Stepp and Jim King. Honorary pallbearers were Bud Hinton, Buck Tullos, Bob Allbritton, Chief Williams and John Parker.
