She was retired from Pinecrest where served in Resident Training Service and was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Jena. She was born May 23, 1924 at Winnsboro to the union of Essic and Maggie Cater Thacker. Services were held Sunday, November 16, 1997, at First United Pentecostal Church in Jena with the Revs. Wayne Pounders, Crawford Coon and Everett "Shorty" Mayo officiating. Interment followed in the Belah Cemetery of Trout under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Jones of Jena; five sons, Henry Dale Jones, Essic Jones and Samuel Joe Jones, all of Jena; Thomas Wayne Jones of Oil City and Lester Paul Jones of Tioga; seven sisters, Jeffie Mae Hickingbottom of Monroe, Ethel Deville, Naomi Tradewell and Genater Prince, all of Pineville, Helen Johnson of Urania, Hettie Faye McCaskill of Jonesville and Ruthie Masters of Monroe; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
