"Sammy" Jones, 47, of Jena, died at 11:58 p.m., Sunday, May 10, 1998, at the LaSalle General Hospital of Jena. He was a construction worker, a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany and a member of First Pentecostal Church of Jena. He was born February 23, 1951 in Sicily Island to the union of Thomas and Bessie Thacker Jones. Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, at the Jena First United Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Crawford Coon and Mike Poole officiating. Interment followed in the Belah Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include two sons, Danny Jones of Many and Brent Dewayne Jones of Jena; his father, Thomas Jones of Jena; and four brothers, Henry Dale Jones and Essic Jones, both of Jena; Thomas Wayne Jones of Oil City and Lester Paul Jones of Tioga.
