He was a retired farmer and for many years was a filer with the Louisiana Central Lumber Company in Clarks. He was a member of the Clarks Masonic Lodge No. 382 and a member of the Grayson United Methodist Church and was a world traveler. Jackson was born on Nov. 19, 1913, at Clarks to the union of Walter and Katherine Lyons Jackson. Services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 28, at the Grayson United Methodist Church with Rev. Hulen Warren and Dr. Charles Roper officiating. Interment followed in the Old Bethel Cemetery near Clarks under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Survivors include his wife, Billie Sue Vines Jackson of Corey; two daughters, Kate Jackson of Corey and Melissa Meredith of Grayson; one brother, Hensel Jackson of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Joyce Holloman of Olla and Maggie Barnum of Urania; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were David Erskine, Buddy Gill, Willis Martin, Charles Thompson, Drew Keahey and Jack Keahey.
