He was a retired boat captain employed by Dravo Industries. Jackson was a tribal elder and member of the Jena Band of Choctaws. Services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at Gospel Fellowship Church in Grand Bay, Ala. Interment followed in Serenity Gardens of Tranquility in Theodore, Ala. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Theobald of Kingsport, Tenn., and Michelle Ellis of Grand Bay; two sons, Jerry Marlin Jackson and Gregory Lane Jackson, both of Mobile, Ala.; one sister, Mary Jones of Trout; one brother, Riley Jackson of Pineville; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were Clyde Jackson, Clifton Jackson, Mike Bray, Gary Eyler, Kenneth Murphy, and Jerry Long. Honorary pallbearers were Rusty Smith, Chris Allen, Robin Allen, Josh Smith, Tommy Smith, Skipper Theobald, C. J. Nicholas, and Daniel Lewis.
