He was a retired sawmill worker and was born November 3, 1913, at Urania to the union of his parents, Benjamin Franklin and Lida Stone Jones. Services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14, at teh chapel of Kinner and Stevens Fuenral Home of Jena with Revs. Larry Chapman and Tommy Prince officiating. Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery of Jena under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc., of Jena. Survivors include one daughter, Rose Ellen J. Franklin of ALexandria; two sons, R. B. Jones of Olla and Paul Neal Jones of Urania; two sisters, Opal Jones White and Betty Jo Whittington; three brothers, Dallas Jones, Otho Jones, and Ben Jones, Jr.; eight grandchidlren, 16 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. Burial was in Belah cemetery near Jena under the director of Hixon Brothers funeral homes. Date: June 28, 1962, Thursday Headline: Services for Leonard Jones Are Held Today Funeral services for Leonard Jones, Jr., 41, a resident of Japan for the past seven years, were held today (Thurs.) at 10 a.m. in the Jena First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Blake, the Rev. Lawrence Poole and the Rev. E. W. Sandel officiating. Burial followed in the National Cemetery of Pineville with military services by England Air Force Base. Kinner and Stephens Funeral Home of Jena was in charge. Mr. Jones was a school principal for Air Force dependents at Tachikawa Air Force Base about 40 miles south of Tokyo. He died Friday, June 15. A friend wrote the family following his death saying, "His passing has caused much sorrow at this base. Leonard was very much liked by everyone with whom he came in contact. Not only was he liked, but he was respected and admired for the good schoolman that he was. He was most conscientious about his work and he did run a very good school." Memorial services were held at the base Thursday, June 21, at 2 p.m. Survivors include three brothers, J. L. Jones of Monahans, Texas, William Jones of Dallas, Texas, and Lavel Jones of Jena; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jones, Sr., of Jena. Date: February 2, 2005, page 3 B Headline: Mildred Keene Jones Mildred Keene Jones, 90, of Rowlett, Texas, and a native of Olla, died Saturday, January 29, 2005. She was born May 29, 1914, to the union of Georgia McDaniel and Hardee Keene. In 1932, she graduated from Olla-Standard High School where she was a standout in basketball for the Olla-Standard Tigers, an honor she was very proud of. She was a precious and loving mother, who gave her all for her children. Her smile and sense of humor will be missed as well as her kind and gentle spirit. For the two years, she called Senior Care at Lake Pointe, Rowlett, Texas, her home and those who cared for her, her girls and boys. She loved the Lord and sang of Him often to anyone who'd listen. Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 1, at the First Baptist Church in Urania. Interment followed in the Pinehill Cemetery of Urania under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Orent Felton Jones; and two sisters, Barbara Grant and Iris Volentine.
