King June 27, 2004 Services for Joy Fudge King, age 64, of Georgetown will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 27, 2004 from the Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Lamar Carpenter, Rev. Joe Bruce and Rev. Tommy Prince officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. Mrs. King was born in Winn Parish on December 23, 1939 to the union of Edwin Sherwood and Edith Williams Fudge and died Thursday, June 24, 2004 at Ochsner's Hospital in New Orleans after fighting a long and courageous battle. She was a homemaker and a retired beautician. She was also a sales representative for Premier Jewelry. She was a lifelong member of the Beulah Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 46 years: Milton Carlton King of Georgetown, her mother: Edith Williams Jordan of Georgetown, her son: Edwin Blaine King of Denver, Co., her son and daughter-in-law: Richard C. and Susan King of Georgetown, her daughter and son-in- law: Cari and Gil Harrison of Colfax, her grandchildren: Adam King, Hannah King, Jacob Harrison and Sarah Harrison, her brothers: Lanny Newsome of Georgetown, George Fudge of California and Bob Fudge of Alaska, and her sisters: Fran Jones of Georgetown and Betty Jo Fudge of Mississippi. Pallbearers will be Jarrett Jones, Lawrence Jones, Rusty Jones, Randy Stott, Ricky Stott and Jack Barrett. Honorary are D.A. Green and E. L.Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beulah Baptist Church building fund. Floyd George Knighten, Jr. August 19, 2003 Services for SGT. Floyd George Knighten, Jr, age 55 of Olla will be held at l0 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at the Standard Baptist Church in Olla with Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Olla Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. SGT. Knighten was born on May 6, 1948 in Trout, La. to the union of Floyd George, Sr. and Bertha Wright Knighten and died Wednesday, August 9, 2003 while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq. SGT. Knighten was a 1969 graduate of Sicily Island High School in Sicily Island where he played football. He was a member of St. William Catholic Church and attended Standard Baptist Church in Olla. He was also a member of the Olla Volunteer Fire Department. He loved cooking, fishing and was a workaholic. After graduating from high school, SGT. Knighten enlisted in the Navy and served four years. In 1984, he joined the La. Army National Guard and was a member of the 1087th Transportation Company. He was a full-time Federal Techician. He also served in Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm and currently Operation Iraqi Freedom. He participated in numerous humanitrian missons in Central American and state emergercies for hurricanes and floods. He also served during the Vietnam Conflict. Survivors include his wife: Lisa Soledad Escobar Knighten, his son: SPC. Floyd George Knighten, III. both of Olla, his sisters: Pearlie Knighten Polk of Wisner and Johnnie Bell Knighten Routon of Olla, and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be SPC. Matthew Bailey, CW2 Rodney Russell, SFC. John Graham, SSG. David Bradford, [ret.], MSG. Richard Humphries, [ret.] and SEG. Bruce Hirsch. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 1087th Transportation Company of the La. National Guard, Eddie Coolman, Kirk Walters, Wayne Spinks, Mark Tooke, John Stott and Jimmie King. Visitation will be Monday, August 18, 2003 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Riser Funeral Home, Hwy 165, Olla and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the Standard Baptist Church in Olla. ===
