"Sam" Keene On October 22, 1923, a son was born to Maggie and Lee Keene of Goodpine. A.V. "Sam" Keene resided in this world 68 years and nine months. On August 2, 1992 at 5 p.m., he moved to his eternal home to live forever in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Services for Keene, 68, of Jena were held Tuesday in the East Jena Baptist Church with Rev. Clyde Sanchez and Rev. Truman Leach officiating. Burial followed in the Hair Cemetery of Jena under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. He was an oilfield worker and member of the East Jena Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Velda Nugent Keene of Jena; one daughter, Lisa Robbins of Jena; two sons, A.V. Keene, Jr. of Lafayette and Jimmy Keene of Jena; one sister, Mary Ann Meyers of Jena; one brother, R.L. "Bud" Keene of Jena; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
