A homemaker, she was born in Caldwell Parish on Dec. 1. 1923 to the union of Robert Fluitt and Sarah Grace Fitzgerald Childress. Mrs. McDaniel was a lifelong resident of Caldwell Parish, was a member of Columbia Heights Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She had been a resident of the Haven Nursing Center for a number of years and also served as a resident volunteer. Services were held Monday, Oct. 27, 1997 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Reggy and Michelle McDaniel of Kelly; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Charles McDougald of Kelly; four brothers, Vercie Childress and Gerald Childress, both of Columbia; Carl Childress of Calhoun and Kenneth Childress of Grayson; one sister, Bobbie Rowe of Addison, Tx.; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
