She was a homemaker and member of the Missionary Baptist faith. She was born October 25, 1908, in Winn Parish to the union of James L. and Mary Ann Pepper Smith. Services were held Wednesday, December 10, 1997 at the First Baptist Church in Urania with Rev. James Simons officiating. Interment followed in Beech Creek Cemetery of Tullos under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include two daughters, Marietta Muarter, both of Urania; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and eight great-great- grandchildren. Pallbearers were Clint Carter, Pat Fussell, Richard Fussell, Benny Fussell, Leon Fussell, Elmer Fussell, Charles Carter and Buddy Carter. Honorary pallbearer was Clinton W. Carter.
