All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Obituary of Luther Murphey, Sr. From The Jena Times, Wednesday, August 31, 1977 Luther Murphy of Georgetown Died Aug. 22 Funeral services for Luther Murphey, Sr., 82, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Georgetown Pentecostal Church with the Rev. W.A. Bingaman and the Rev. Coda Salter officiating. Burial was in the Georgetown Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mr. Murhprey died Monday August 22, in Tioga Minor Nursing Home of Tioga after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Groesbeck, Texas and a veteran of World War I. He was a retired saw mill superintendent. Survivors include one son, Luther Murphey Jr., of Lake Charles; one daughter, Mrs. Yvonne Bruce of Georgetown; two sisters, Mrs. Charles S. Wiggins of Tullos and Mrs. Effie Kees of Pollock; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
