Mayo, 85, of Searcy, died at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 1998, at the LaSalle General Hospital of Jena. He was a retired gauger for Placid Oil Company and a member of the Baptist faith. He was also a member of Carrietta Lodge No. 312, F&AM, of Trout, Scottish Rites, D.L. Strickland of Monroe. He was born Feb. 23, 1913, at Edenburg, Ms., to the union of McDull and Mattie Barnett Mayo. Services were held at 3 p.m., Friday, May 22, at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. S.B. Spinks and Rickey Gresham officiating. Interment followed in the Graham Cemetery of Nebo under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc. of Jena. Survivors include two daughters, Thadean Floyd of Jena and Sue McAdams of Port Sulphur; two sons, Jerry Mayo of Aimwell and Chris Mayo of Searcy; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Claxton Mayo, Red Mayo, Clay Mayo, Josh Keen, Dale Willis and Bill Humphries.
