McLendon, 71, of Jena, died at 10:45 p.m., Monday, November 9, 1998, in St. Frances Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria. He was a retired law enforcement officer with the Louisiana State Forestry Commission and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with the Father George Pokkatau officiating. Burial followed under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. Survivors include two daughters, Ramono Mclendon Emfinger of Jena and Renee Mclendon Bayne of Standardsville, Va.; one sister, Niease Mclendon Lytle of Jena; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ronnie McLendon, Ray Emfinger, Ed Benson, George King, Edwin Stott, and Ben Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmie Humphries and Marshall Germany.
