Monk, 77, of Cotton Valley, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 1990 at his residence. He was a retired plant operator for Marathon Oil Co. and member of the Methodist Church. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden with Rev. Harley Sissons, officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery with arrangements by Rose Neath. Survivors include his wife, Lalia Monk of Cotton Valley; two daughters, Beverly Greshom of Spring, Texas and Judy Johnson of Bossier City; a son, David Monk of Winnfield, formerly of Jena; a brother, Toby Monk of Baton Rouge; his mother, Ida Monk of Minden; four grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dalton Maynor, Bill Bowling, Wayne Thompson, William McCann, John Dennis McCann and Jimmy Heflin.
