Miles, 67, of Olla, died at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 1990, at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. He was a retired Baptist minister, retired as a mill wright at Louisiana Pacific and a veteran in World War II. Services were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in New Union Baptist Church north of Tullos with Revs. Huey Tarpley and Lawrence King, officiating. Burial followed in Hawthorne Cemetery of Little Creek under direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Survivors include his wife, Nettie Onesia Mills Miles of Olla; one son, Hollis Miles Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas; five daughters, Yvonne Butler of Jena, Mary Sue Smith of Olla, Bobbie Vistine of Crowley, Texas, Barbara Parsons of Fort Worth, Texas, and Beth Nusbaum of Elkhart, Ind.; three brothers, Rev. Jack Miles of Jacksonville, Texas, Chester Ray Miles of Deerpartk, Texas and Terry Miles of Olla; two sisters, Bronis Martin of Tullos and Clemmie Sanders of Jena; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Wade Butler, Lee Smith, Marc Miles, Everett Creel, Wayne Masters and David Wilson.
