Mitchell Sr., 68, of Jena, died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 1990 at the LaSalle General Hospital of Jena following and extended illness. He operated a service station on Hwy. 127 in Jena for a number of years before his health forced him to retire. He was a mason, and member of First United Pentecostal Church of Jena. Services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the First United Pentecostal Church in Jena with the Revs. Crawford Coon, Wayne Pounders and Earl Reeves, officiating. Interment followed at Woodland Memorial Park cemetery of Jena under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Louise Parker Mitchell of Jena; three sons, Richard Mitchell, Julius A. Mitchell Jr. and Terry James Mitchell, all of Jena; a daughter, Janna Wilson of Jena; a brother, Manuel Mitchell of Jena; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Vance Elliott, David Wilson, Norris Elliott, Virgil Smith, Charles Mills, Nathan Hudson, Dale Mitchell and Edwin Hutson. Honorary pallbearers were Jesse Parker, Harold Parker, Eldred Parker and R. M. Parker Jr.
