He was retired after working for Vickers Corporation for 20 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the chapel of Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena with the Revs. S.B. Spinks and John Lee Dayton, officiating. Interment followed in Belah Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens Inc. of Jena. Survivors include two sons, James Methvin of Hudson Creek and Stan Methvin of Pineville; two daughters, Paula Carter of Kolin and Cindy Orman of Alexandria; two brothers, James A. Methvin Jr. and Guy Methvin, both of Pineville; four sisters, Helen Stewart and Carolyn Jones, both of Trout; Jessie Taylor of Goodpine and Jimmie McIlwain of Jena; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were Luther Douzart, Gary Kennedy, Sam Cole, Pat Sheppard, Lucky Esterling and Willis Runnels.
