He was a retired oilfield worker and a veteran of World War II. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. July 30, at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with Rev. Charlie Anderson, officiating. Interment followed in Pine Grove Cemetery near Whitehall under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Inez Manning of Ola; two sons, Jimmy Manning of Jena and Terry Manning of Alexandria; a daughter, Kay Smith of Pineville; a step-son, Jerry Davis of West Lake; a step-daughter, Joan Rachal of Olla; a brother, Sonny Manning of Jonesville; two sisters, Lois Adams of Jonesville and Clara Gilmore of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bob Breithaupt, Sam Young, Buster Scroggs, Jr., Bill Francis, Chris Clark and Ralph Nolan.
