Mackey, had passed away at 5:45 o'clock at the Vaughan, Wright & Bendel clinic in Monroe. Miss Mackey underwent an operation for appendicitis at the clinic on Monday morning preceeding her death and her condition was believed to have been improving until was was received in Jena early Friday morning that she had taken a sudden change for the worse. The deceased was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, February 15th 1915. The family moved to Jena six years ago and Miss Mackey graduated at the Jena High School later attending Louisiana Tech at Ruston. She had been a student in beauty school in Monroe for the past several months and was ready to stand her examination as a beauty specialist when death called her. Her sunny disposition endeared her to every one who knew her and her passing will leave a vacant space in the hearts of people from every walk of life in this community. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Jena at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. Interment followed in the Nolley Memorial cemetery. Her pastor, Rev. A.S.J. Neill, of the Methodist Episcopal church, was assisted by Rev. L.D. Posey, pastor of the Baptist church, in the funeral services, which were under the direction of Kinner & Stevens, local undertakers. Surviving Miss Mackey are her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Mackey; three sisters, Misses Freddie Mae, Cornelia and Virginia, and one brother, Billie Bob, all of Jena.
