Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Meyers Bend Pentecostal Church with Revs. Bill Cotten and M.O. Martin, officiating. Burial followed at Harrisonburg Cemetery with arrangements by Hixson Brothers Inc. of Jena. Survivors include a son, E.C. Meyers Jr. of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Getice Laffoon of West Monroe and Evelyn Stringer of Eunice; two brothers, James Slaughter of Pollock and Earl Slaughter of Harrisonburg; a sister, Hazel Carmichel of Dallas, Texas; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Charles Stringer, Clark Freeman, John Meyers, Zock Meyers, John Stutson and Billy Floyd.
