The death of Mr. Charles A. Miller, 70, well known Jena resident for 35 years and retired carpenter, came as a shock to his many friends throughout this section. Death came at 2 a.m. Monday, August 12, and funeral services were held at the First Baptist church, at 4 p.m. August 12 with Rev. Finley Tinnin, pastor and Rev. Shadrack Brooks of Rhinehart officiating. Interment took place at the Hair cemetery east of Jena, under the direction of Riser and Upshaw Funeral Home of Jena. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Charles A. Miller, Floyd Miller of Jena, son and Mrs. M.O. Williams of Natchitoches, daughter, Mrs. Alice Steadman and Mrs. Allie Middleton both of Shreveport and three grandchildren. The Times joins friends in extending kindest sympathies to the bereaved.
