Nesby, 64, of Ithaca, New York, died at 9:25 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 1990 at his residence. He was a native of LaSalle Parish and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a security officer at Ithaca College and received the Good Neighbor Award from the City of Ithaca. He was a member of the American Red Cross for 20 years, VFW post No. 961 and the American League Post No. 1695. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a trustee. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at Mars Hill Baptist Church near Jena. Burial followed in Webster Cemetery near Trout under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Mary Daughton Nesby of Ithaca, N.Y.; his parents, Rev. Harrison and Roena Nesby of Jena; two brothers, Harrison Nesby Jr. of Alamogordo, N.M. and Samuel Tom Nesby of Houston, Texas; and four sisters, Vassie Holland of Alamogordo, N.M., Susan Ellion of Elmire, N.Y., Ernestine Worthington of Jena and Wilma Bush of Natchitoches. He was buried with full military honors. Pallbearers were the Ft. Polk Military Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers were Taft Jackson, Henry Bush, Lawrence Ellison and Fredrick Worthington.
