REV.  RUSSELL NEAL, LASALLE NATIVE DIES.

     Services for the Rev. Russell Neal, 56, were held at 2:00 p.m. last
Thursday, August 16, 1979 at Cedar Baptist Church in Archibald with Dr.
Luther Hall and Rev. Joe Mongel, officiating.

     Burial followed at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Jena.

     Rev. Neal died suddenly Tuesday in his daughter's home at Rayville.  He
was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs.  Oliver Neal of Jena.

     He was pastor of Cedar Baptist Church in Archibald for eight years, a
veteran of World War II and moderator of Richland Baptist Association.

     Survivors include his widow, Mrs.  Rose Neal of Archibald, two sons,
David Neal of Ocean, New Jersey and billy Paul Neal of Collinston, a
daughter, Mrs.  D'Juana Stewart of Rayville.  A brother, Grady Neal of
Pontchatoula; a sister, Mrs.  Lola Plumlee of Quinlain, Texas and two grand
children.

     Pallbearers were Archie Neal Brown, Sr., Archie Neal Brown, Jr., L. B.
Archibald, Jerry Roberts, Preston Yelverton and E.  R.  Bradshaw.
