Date: October 26, 1944, Thursday Headline: Mrs. Cordie Nason Dies of Heart Ailment, Oct. 21 Mrs. Cordie Nason, 80, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Norris Basco, in Jena, October 21, 1944, at 10:30 a. m., from a heart ailment. Funeral services were conducted at the Church of God, October 22, at 2 p. m., with Rev. Sharp officiating. Interment was in Nolley Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Nason had been in poor health for several years, but had been critically ill for the past three weeks. During the sixty years she had lived in Jena, Mrs. Nason had made many friends who loved and respected her for her kindly neighborliness and thoughtfulness for others. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jena. Survivors include three sons, N. N. Nason, Harrisonburg, C. V. Nason, Jena, and W. N. Nason, Bossier; and four daughters, Mrs. W. M. Hopkins and Mrs. Norris Basco, Jena, Mrs. H. G. Prince, Pottsville, Ark., and Mrs. A. Norris, Musketeen, Iowa. Date: January 18, 1989, Wednesday Headline: Zader F. Naugle Zader F. Naugle, 87, of Jena, died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 1989, at the Golden Age Nursing Center in Jena. She was a housewife and member of the Church of Christ. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home in Jena with Rev. Rex Carraway officiating. Burial followed in Woodland Cemetery of Jena with arrangements by Kinner and Stevens Inc. of Jena. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mary Moore of Riverside, California; and a sister, Mrs. Allie Raymond of Tennessee; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Newsom, Jr., 87, of Sikes, died Friday, October 8, 1999, at the Winn Medical Center in Winnfield following a long illness. He was a retired forestry technician for Louisiana Pacific and was a deacon of Shady Grove Baptist Church of Sikes. Services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 11, at Edmonds Funeral Home chapel in Winnfield with the Revs. James Simons, Terry Bartley, and Ray Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Sikes Cemetery of Sikes under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Winnfield. Survivors include two sons, Jimmie Ray Newsom and Jerald Newsom, both of Sikes; one daughter, Barbara Williams of Eros; one sister, Annie Belle Parker of Urania; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
